The North Mills River Needs You

The North Mills River is a delayed harvest fishery located in western North Carolina between Asheville and Brevard. Big Creek Lodge, an 80 acre in-holding in the Pisgah National Forest on the North Mills River, holds key access to significant sections of the river for both angling and stocking. A change in ownership has given us the opportunity to protect the Big Creek Lodge property. TU is working with the Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy (CMLC) to secure the undeveloped portions of the tract now, with the goal of re-selling to the Forest Service in FY 2012. CMLC has asked TU to cover the costs to secure the property (via option contract or down payment. For more information, click here.

Send tax deductible checks to: Trout Unlimited, 34 Wall Street Suite 804, Asheville, NC 28748. Memo: ‘North Mills’, or visit www.tu.org/northmills. 100% of the funds donated will go to this project. Questions? Contact Damon Hearne, SE Land Protection Coordinator, dhearne@tu.org or 828.398.0177
